This summer, my grandma fell into a coma, and my family feared losing her. While waiting in the hospital, I wanted to create something that expressed our hope and connection during this difficult time. Inspired by an architectural art book I’d shared with my grandpa, I sketched a little blue house, filling its windows with color to symbolize our longing for her return. I titled it Please Don’t Go and placed it on her hospital wall. When she saw it, my grandma squeezed my hand. In August, she left the hospital and miraculously recovered. This piece embodies our family’s resilience and the power of art to hold hope.
